The scheme will deliver 650 residential apartments across three architecturally distinct blocks, ranging from 20 storeys at the southern edge down to eight storeys at the northern boundary, ensuring a considered relationship with the surrounding urban fabric. Ground-level spaces will provide a mix of commercial units, resident amenities, and landscaped green areas, creating a balanced and active streetscape.

Background

Pumpfields Road holds deep industrial heritage, once home to the Pumpfields Power Station — a key driver of Liverpool’s early 20th-century growth, powering the city’s tram network and nearby docklands. Its robust brickwork, steel-framed windows, and utilitarian design stand as hallmarks of the city’s industrial era.

The proposed development will pay homage to this history by incorporating architectural references from the power station into the new building elevations, using a material palette that reflects the area’s heritage. A large-scale mural will further embed the story of the site into its modern context, helping to create a distinct sense of place and identity.

Working in collaboration with landscape architects, the project will blend industrial heritage with contemporary design, ensuring the external spaces and building façades connect seamlessly to Liverpool’s past while positioning the scheme firmly in the city’s future.
